Saving and Opening Reports


Once you have created a report in a MarketWide module, you can save, open, or delete the report, allowing you to edit and rerun that report later. Reports are saved on the MarketWide host machine.

    • Save – Just as most word processors allow you to create macros to save and repeat keystrokes, MarketWide allows you to save repetitive activities. If there are certain reports you generate on a regular basis, you can save the format or criteria once and retrieve and submit them whenever you wish to rerun or update the report.
    • Open – After saving a MarketWide report, you can open the report later and rerun it.
    • Delete – Deletes old or obsolete MarketWide reports.

Saving Reports

The Save Report dialog allows you to easily save and organize reports. From any MarketWide program, you can save reports by choosing the following menu items:

    • File > Save – When saving a report for the first time, select File > Save from the toolbar. When the Save Report dialog opens, choose a save location and name your report. If you are editing a saved report, choosing File > Save saves changes without opening the dialog.
    • File > Save As – This is generally used to save a copy of a report under a new name. Selecting File > Save As opens the Save Report dialog, offering you the chance to select a different location or name for your report.

The Save Report dialog also allows you to sort information in any column in ascending or descending order.

To Save a Report

  1. Choose File > Save As from the menu to open the Save Report dialog.
  2. Under Report Name, enter a name for your report. 
  3. Choose the My Reports or Public Reports area. My Reports is your personal reports directory on the MarketWide host. Public Reports is a shared directory, which can be accessed by all MarketWide users.
  4. Navigate to the folder where you want to save your report. For information about creating folders, see the section entitled "To Create New Folders."
  5. Click OK to save your report in the selected location.

To Create New Folders

  1. In the Save Report dialog, open the location where you want to create a folder.
  2. Click New Report Folder on the toolbar.
  3. Type a folder name in the Add New Folder dialog.
  4. Click OK to create the folder. 

Opening Reports

The Open Report dialog is almost identical to the Save Report dialog. From the Open Report dialog, you can open saved reports or delete existing reports. 

To Open a Report

  1. From any MarketWide program, choose File > Open from the menu, or click Open on the toolbar.
  2. Highlight the report you wish to open.
  3. Click Open.

To Delete a Report

  1. In the Open Report or the Save Report dialog, highlight the report you wish to delete.
  2. Press the <Delete> key or right-click and select Delete.

Options available in the Save Report dialog and the Open Report dialog:

    • My Reports – Allows you to save or open reports from your personal reports directory on the MarketWide host.
    • Public Reports – Allows you to save or open reports from the public reports directory on the MarketWide host. All MarketWide users can access reports saved in the Public Reports directory. 
    • Up One Level – Opens the folder level one higher than the level you're currently viewing, like the back button in Windows Explorer.
    • New Folder – Allows you to create a new folder in the current stored reports file.
    • Refresh Report List – Refreshes the list of your reports available from the MarketWide host. 
    • List – Displays files and folders.
    • Details – Displays the files and folders in the current stored reports file along with additional information such as Type, User ID, Date, Server, and Description. 
    • Report Name – Allows you to enter a name for the report you are saving.
    • Reports of Type – Allows you to view reports from specific MarketWide modules such as Analyzer and TouchPoint, or view all available reports.
